Illustration Friday - "Wide"

A wide chasm to leap across!

I created this piece this morning for my chapter book/middle grade novel portfolio. I'd like to make this into a cover illustration sample by adding a made-up title. Any good ideas for a title?

this is awesome! I like the dynamic composition and perspective. For a title, how about, "The Last Divide".

That's funny, Josh took the words from my fingers.. I was going to say the same thing. Great picture.

This is a very nice illo. It would be a great interior page.
I think it has some problems as a cover image.
First all of the action is at the top of the page where the title would go.
If you put the title below the kids it would ruin the effect of space you've created.
Also moving the kids down and putting the title over them would ruin the effect.
Also i think for a cover image it would need something at the bottom of the image to make it more exciting. Like is there someone/something lurking at the bottom of that doorway that the kids have to jump over in order to reach their goal.
The boy seems to looking at the doorway, so if there was something there that was scaring/concerning him it would create some nice tension for the viewer.

Again I think it's a great illo, it would just need some tweaks to be a great cover image.

Wonderful points, Robert. Actually, I was thinking of having the type running on a severe diagonal down the edge of the doorway. Not sure if that's clear, but I'll post it with text once I decide on a title. Thanks for suggestions. I plan on tweaking this illustration since I only spent Friday morning on it. I'll keep your suggestions in mind.

awesome illo! I can't think of a great title but something about a mystery in a tomb would be good.

Beautiful! I love the light contrast, the very dinamic pose of the girl and the prospective... basically, eveything! :D

This image is great! I love the use of lines and especially texture! The lights and darks are placed really well and the diagonal planes really add an awesome effect (like a big drop!) and great characters too

this is one cool portfolio piece! :)
